Valuation for courts and disputes

A dispute may turn on the value of property, equipment, a business or an ownership interest at a particular date. Capstone prepares independent valuations with a clearly defined scope, evidence and assumptions. We work with clients and their advisers to understand the valuation question while keeping the conclusion independent of either party’s preferred outcome.

Scope and deliverables

  • Property and asset disputes

We identify the property or assets, the rights to be valued and the relevant date. Available inspection, registry and market evidence are documented, together with any limitations.

  • Shareholder and ownership disputes

For company or share valuations, we analyse financial information and the rights attached to the interest. The methods and assumptions are explained so the parties can understand the reasoning.

  • Review of an existing valuation

An independent review can examine the basis, data, methods and consistency of another report. We agree whether the task is a review or a separate valuation before starting.

When to commission a valuation

  • Disagreements about property or asset value
  • Shareholder disputes and partner exits
  • Arbitration or litigation requiring valuation evidence
  • Review of valuation assumptions or methodology

Preparing the assignment

  • Information to prepare

Send the asset or company details, intended use, valuation date and recipient requirements. We confirm access, documents, timing and fees before starting.

How a valuation works

Send us the property or company, the purpose and any documents you have. We confirm the scope, timing and fee in writing before we start.

  2. Inspection and analysis

We inspect the asset, research the market and apply the methods that fit the purpose of the valuation.

  3. Report and explanation

You receive a signed report in Georgian or English, and we walk you through how we reached the conclusion.

Frequently asked questions

Can you value an asset at a past date?

Where sufficient reliable evidence is available, a retrospective valuation may be possible. We first confirm the date, scope and information limitations.

Is a favourable court outcome guaranteed?

No. We provide an independent valuation opinion. Admissibility, procedure and the outcome are determined by the relevant court or tribunal.

What should my adviser provide?

The valuation question, relevant date, asset or ownership details and available supporting documents. Any procedural or report-format requirements should be identified before the assignment.

Tell us what you need valued
